Lives and works in Herzilya, Israel

Lilach Bar-Ami graduated with a BA from the departments of Fine Arts and Comparative Literature at The University of Haifa. In her work, these two varied worlds of literature and visual arts, of narrative and visual gesture, seem to intertwine through her intricate craft of weaving her images together. Bar-Ami brings together traditional techniques of working with paper alongside more contemporary digital drawing practices in an ambiguous way, not always allowing the viewer to decipher one from the other. Her narratives often weld different types of female roles: from the homemaker to the artist, the soldier, and to other charged female characters that are at times staged in a contrasting poetic and idyllic scenery. Her work often challenges the boundaries between form and content as it raises questions of social and existential issues that lie beneath the meticulously crafted, aesthetic appearance.
